About LEAN LIUNA

LEAN LIUNA – Laborers Escaping Adversity Now – is a peer support program designed to help LIUNA members and their families overcome mental health issues, substance use disorders and other types of adversity.

Created by laborers, for laborers

No one understands the challenges of being a Laborer better than another Laborer. LEAN LIUNA uses the power of peer support to make member-to-member connections built on trust and shared experience.

LEAN LIUNA programs help members:

  • Take full advantage of the benefits available to them and their dependents
  • Navigate coverage-related issues and connect with the right provider for their needs
  • Stay engaged with fellow Laborers who support their recovery and well-being

To grow LIUNA to one million members strong, we must be there for one another – not just on the job, but in life’s toughest moments too. Solidarity and community are pillars of Laborers Rising, and they embody what it means to be part of this union. When we show up for each other, we don’t just ease someone’s burden – we strengthen our union from within.

— Lisa M. Sabitoni, Executive Director of the LHSFNA

Being a part of LIUNA means being part of a family that supports you, no matter what you’re going through. Through the support of LIUNA’s District Councils, Local Unions, health and welfare funds, signatory contractors and other affiliates, we will connect members with lifesaving resources and show that LIUNA truly is a family that looks out for its own.
