The Laborers’ Health & Safety Fund of North America (LHSFNA) is proud to announce the launch of a new Financial Wellness Campaign designed specifically for LIUNA members. Rolling out in Spring 2026, this twelve-month initiative aims to reduce financial stress—an issue that affects about 70 percent of American adults. Throughout the year, the Fund will provide members with tools needed to improve their finances.
Why Financial Wellness Matters Now
Financial wellness is deeply intertwined with health, which is a core component of the LHSFNA’s mission. In fact, according to the American Psychological Association, money consistently ranks as a top source of stress for adults. And unfortunately, financial strain rarely stays isolated; difficulty managing bills or saving money can directly impact your mood, productivity, engagement and even your physical well-being.
Becoming a more informed steward of your finances puts you on the path to a host of benefits:
- Peace of mind. Reduce the daily worry and stress associated with bills
- Security for you and your family. Create a stable foundation to provide for yourself and your loved ones.Â
- Future planning. Help you save up for milestones such as buying a house.
- Optimizing your hard work. Ensure you’re getting the full value of your hard-earned pay and union benefits.Â
Our Goal: Empowering Every Member
Whether you are just starting your career or are nearing retirement, the goal of this campaign is to help you become a more active and improved manager of your personal finances. We are meeting you wherever you are in your financial journey, and therefore have structured the campaign to ensure you find the right support.
For example, we’ve developed a new brochure, Building Your Financial Future: An Overview for Laborers. This resource arms members with foundational knowledge regarding key aspects of personal finance, such as budgeting and money management, how to get debt under control and how to save for your goals. All LIUNA District Councils, Local Unions, signatory contractors, health and welfare funds and other affiliates can order this brochure on our website to distribute to members.Â
In the meantime, you can follow along on our social media channels for monthly financial wellness tips and reminders. We’ll also be publishing a series of related fact sheets throughout the year to provide a deeper dive into each topic.
